A beacon for Lafelt.

House
Riemst 2013

Design and realization of an open single-family residence.

At the edge of a residential area in rural Lafelt (Riemst) this residence serves as a beacon for the small hamlet. The building presents itself to the outside world as fairly closed. The glazed entrance area with a framed front door attracts the attention. At right angles to this semi-public entrance area is the line running through the residence. Thanks to that positioning, people passing by do not have a direct view of the living space in spite of the glazed entrance area.

Two sitting rooms
A see-through fireplace divides the seating area into two sections: one seating area is of an intimate nature. It receives sunlight only from a skylight in the higher dimensioned ceiling. The other sitting area is directed toward the open field landscape and interacts internally with the kitchen and the dining area. The three functions are shaped into one space.

On the first floor, the inside window of the night landing connects with the outside window of the patio. This outdoor area provides daylight for the ironing / guest room.
